What we do
Whether I’m drawing live in the room or creating visuals behind the scenes, my work helps ideas land — clearly, creatively, and with lasting impact.
Meet Alice
Hi, I’m Alice Edy — lifelong doodler, professional listener, and the graphic recorder and live illustrator behind Live Drawing.
With a background in fine arts and literature, I stumbled into the world of business events over a decade ago — and never looked back. These days, I spend my time live scribing and sketching the energy of a room in real time, turning complex conversations into visuals that feel clear, creative, and alive.
My work may look like drawing, but really, it’s about listening. I tune in, pick up on what matters, and help people see their ideas in a new light — with a bit of flow, a dash of spontaneity, and a whole lot of heart.
GRAPHIC RECORDING
This happens live, and can be either in-person, or virtual.
This includes one round of post-event edits to cover any mis-spellings or any minor tweaks. This also includes a timelapse video of the drawings which is awesome, and can be shared on socials!
Studio ILLUSTRATION
This happens from my studio in Melbourne, as opposed to in-person.
Costings vary, depending on complexity and detail required. Standard studio illustrations include 3 rounds of edits, after which an hourly rate will be charged for any additional changes thereafter.
Workshops
Hands-on visual thinking sessions.
These sessions are designed to unlock creativity, spark ideas, and build real team connection. Using simple drawing tools, group exercises, and visual storytelling, your team will learn to share ideas clearly, solve creatively, and collaborate with ease.

In a world full of distractions, live illustration grabs attention
and holds it.
I draw as people speak — live in the room or on screen — turning complex conversations into simple, memorable visuals that spark engagement in real time. No AI, no templates, just hand-drawn, real-time storytelling that energizes the space and helps ideas land. Whether it’s paper, murals, or iPad-to-screen, I adapt to your moment. Graphic recording (also called live scribing, visual scribing, or graphic facilitation) is one of the oldest ways we’ve made meaning, from cave paintings to hieroglyphics — I just do it with more colour and a lot more fun.
Whether you’re planning a big strategy day or a cozy team workshop, Live Drawing brings clarity, energy, and a splash of creativity to the room.

What is graphic recording?
Graphic recording (also known as live scribing or visual scribing) is the practice of capturing conversations, presentations, and ideas in real time through hand-drawn illustrations and text. A graphic recorder listens to what’s being said and translates it into a large-scale visual summary as it happens, creating a living artwork that reflects the energy and content of your event.
What's the difference between graphic recording / graphic facilitation / scribing / visual notes?
These are all different words to describe the process of drawing information live in front of an audience.
There are subtle differences depending on the intention of your event.
Graphic recording / scribing is focused on engagement at the event, recording the speakers key points. Graphic facilitation goes a step further, where the visual practitioner also helps guide and structure the discussion. Alice approach is flexible, depending on your event’s needs.
What types of events suit a graphic recorder?
Graphic recording works beautifully across a wide range of events including corporate conferences, strategy days, leadership summits, workshops, panel discussions, team offsites, product launches, PD days, and virtual events. If ideas are being shared, a graphic recorder can make them visible.
Is the drawing done on paper or digitally?
Both! Alice works on large paper or boards for a physical piece your team can keep, or digitally on an iPad with the artwork displayed live on screen. Digital graphic recording also works beautifully for virtual and hybrid events. Just mention your preference when you get in touch and Alice will recommend the best option for your event.
Do you travel outside Melbourne?
Yes! Alice is based in Brunswick, Melbourne, but regularly travels interstate for events across Australia and internationally. Get in touch to discuss travel logistics and costs.
How far in advance should I book?
Popular dates fill up quickly, so the earlier the better. Ideally 4-6 weeks ahead of the event. That said, reach out even if your event is coming up soon and we’ll do our best to make a plan for you!
How much does graphic recording cost in Melbourne?
Every event is different, so Alice provides custom quotes based on your event length, location, and requirements. Get in touch via the enquiry form for a tailored quote.
